Nature Connection Facilitator
We are also looking to create training opportunities for new Nature Connection Facilitators.
We still need experienced Nature Connection Facilitators and they will be asked to provide some training for the new ones during the residential. We would ask a minimum of hours on the ground for Nature Connection Facilitators as part of their certification.
Due to the on the ground hours of delivery for our nature connection work during the residentials, it was voted that this needed to be paid for in line with hours worked. We won’t expect the Nature Connection Facilitator to be present for all processes on future residentials but they will need to be on call. They will need to be present from the staff container building through to the close of the residential, meeting the evening before participant arrival.
Whoever fills this role will need to be under the supervision and support of Caspar and this may need to be voluntary to begin with, depending on the level of experience and familiarity with the programme.
The Nature Connection Facilitator will need an intimate knowledge of Tribe Warrior and be able to weave the narrative into the existing programme and prepping this before the residential with Caspar. The Tribe Warrior narrative will be changing and developing over the coming year.
Readiness assessment for Nature Connection Facilitators
- An intimate knowledge of all processes and aspects of a Write to Freedom residential
- Ability to adapt to changing needs of client group
- Ability to work closely with leader and all other staff
- Ability to hold wider leader roles outside primary role – as and when needed
- Hold, write and check all relevant risk assessments
- Train and supervise new staff looking to hold the Nature Connection Facilitator role
- Ongoing supervision within Write to Freedom and outside of it
- Outdoor First Aid qualified with full first aid kit for all outdoor activities
New NCF rate: Sliding scale £300 (new trainee) - £500 (experienced)
With an additional £100 for training new Residential Psychotherapists
To be reviewed in the autumn of 2018
Residential Psychotherapist
Due to the nature of the client group and their presenting needs, it was decided we need a facilitator trained in working with trauma. This is very much to the fore in the therapeutic working world right now. About time. We had a volunteer, body centred psychotherapist on the last residential. This proved invaluable. The Residential Counsellor will need an intimate knowledge of the programme and the client’s needs.
Again, we won’t expect the Residential Psychotherapist to be present for all processes but they need to be on call. They will need to be present from the staff container building through to the close of the residential, meeting the evening before participant arrival. Whoever fills this role will need to be under the supervision and support of Caspar, who has many years personal and professional experience of working with trauma; his own and others. The Residential Psychotherapist will need to be voluntary to begin with. The paid position will be dependent on experience and familiarity with the programme.

- Ability to adapt to changing needs of client group
- Ability to work closely with leader and all other staff
- Ability to hold wider leader roles outside primary role – as and when needed
- Hold, write and check all relevant risk assessments
- Train and supervise new staff looking to hold the Residential Psychotherapist role
- Ongoing supervision within Write to Freedom and outside of it
- (preferable) Outdoor First Aid qualified

Both the Nature Connection Facilitators and Residential Psychotherapist are invited to step into leadership training at any point. This would, all being well, lead to holding a residential as overall leader with a trainee leader in support. The current leader rate is £900 per residential.
